Imperative
Creating sentences in imperative is very easy:
Form
bare infinitive + the rest of the sentence + ! (optional)
Examples:
- Be a good boy!
Negative Sentences
- Don't say such horrible things!
When To Use?
We use imperative when we want to order someone to do something:
- Stop being such a mother's boy!
- Come back and fight with me!
- Buy me a Coke.
We can also use it to invite someone to do something:
- Help yourself to the biscuit.
- Come and play with us.
In order to make the command more polite, use do or could at the beginning of the sentence:
- Could you turn down the music?
- Do sit down.
